Pearson BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma in Business

This qualification broadens and expands the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and encompasses the essential skills, knowledge and understanding needed to gain confidence and progression. There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for progression within education or into employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to study in detail or work in a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to 1.5 GCE A Levels and provides a programme of study manageable in a year so that learners can bank and then build on their achievement. In this way it encourages progression for those learners who wish to undertake a one-year course of study because of individual circumstances. Some learners may wish to gain the qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a larger or different level 3 programme. Other learners may want to extend the specialism they studied on the BTEC Level 3 Certificate or the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma programme. Learners may also be able to use the BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma to gain partial achievement and have the requisite skills, knowledge and understanding needed in the sector. For adult learners the BTEC Level 3 90-credit Diploma can extend their experience of working in a particular sector. It could also be a suitable qualification for those wishing to change career or move into a particular area of employment following a career break.

Functional Skills

BKSB

Our market-leading products for Functional Skills include everything you need for truly outstanding assessment and development.

Initial Assessment: The Initial Assessment (English and maths) tracks the Functional Skills Standards and satisfies the updated core curriculum for English and maths from Pre-Entry Level to Level 2. The Initial Assessment tool is dynamic and adjusts the level according to the answers given – allowing the learner to see what level they are currently working at.

Diagnostic Assessment: The Functional Skills Diagnostic Assessment (English and maths) tracks the
Functional Skills Standards from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. We also provide assessments that assess generic English and maths at Level 3. When a learner completes the Diagnostic Assessments in English and maths, it provides them with a percentage score and produces an interactive Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which highlights their skill gaps and directs the learner to the appropriate resources they need to use in order to fill those skill gaps.

 Learning ResourcesFully interactive and self-marking

The Learning Resources are fully interactive, self-marking, and track the Functional Skills Standards from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 in English and maths.

Skill Checks: The Skill Checks enable learners to close their identified skill gaps by undertaking exercises which show competency in those areas. There are over 150 self-marking skill checks, covering a variety of topics across English and maths. Once a learner has passed a skill check, it is likely to motivate them by reflecting an important milestone in their development. The Skill Checks have proved to be an invaluable addition for a wide variety of organisations and learners who have used them.

Revision Scenarios: The Revision Scenarios are the final element of the Functional Skills process. This element of the process is normally completed after the Skill Checks, but they can also be used by learners as a standalone product. Effectively, our scenarios are practice papers. They allow the learner to apply their skills and logic to problems and situations that they may encounter in everyday life, in preparation for taking the Functional Skills assessments in English, maths and ICT.

There are six Revision Scenarios at Level 1 and Level 2 for English and maths. These are available online via the LIVE platform.

There are four Revision Scenarios at Entry Level 2, Entry Level 3, Level 1 and Level 2 for ICT. They are available to download in pdf format only.

At each level, our scenarios are packaged with answers, guides, and marking schemes – making it easy for the learner to interpret their results. Additionally, results for English and maths are available on LIVE and can be downloaded in pdf format.
